NT2-support

Learning Dutch with extra support
Is Dutch your second language and would you benefit from some extra support? If so, you can take advantage of our Dutch as a Second Language (NT2) support programme. Together, we will work step by step to develop your Dutch language skills, helping you follow your lessons with confidence and build a strong foundation for your future education and final examinations.

Support tailored to your needs
Based on the information we receive when you enrol, we can often make a good assessment of the support you may need. In some cases, we use an additional assessment to gain a clearer understanding of your Dutch language level. Together, we will then create a personalised support programme. Alongside your regular lessons, you will receive additional guidance to help you develop your Dutch language skills.

Learning in the Language Centre
Additional support takes place in our Language Centre (TaalLokaal). Here, you will work in small groups with specialised NT2 teachers to improve your Dutch. You will practise speaking, listening, reading and writing, while also receiving support with academic language, homework and study skills. Our goal is to help you develop the language skills you need to participate successfully in school and ultimately achieve your diploma.

Who is NT2 support for?
NT2 support is intended for students who need additional help with the Dutch language, for example if:

  • you have been living in the Netherlands for less than six years;
  • Dutch is not your first language;
  • you still find it difficult to follow lessons taught in Dutch;
  • you would like to obtain a Dutch secondary school diploma;
  • you need support with language development, homework or study skills.

Students who have lived in the Netherlands for longer but would still benefit from additional support with Dutch are also welcome to make use of the Language Centre.

A strong foundation for the future
We generally advise NT2 students to start in Dutch-medium education. This is because all final examinations are taken in Dutch.By continuing to develop your Dutch language skills, you will build a strong foundation for further study, your final examinations and your future in the Netherlands.

More opportunities within our educational foundation (SILFO)
Our school is part of Stichting Internationaal en Lokaal Funderend Onderwijs (SILFO). SILFO offers both public and state-funded education, with a strong focus on international learning opportunities.

Across several schools within our foundation, students can take part in a variety of international programmes, providing even more opportunities to develop their language skills, broaden their horizons and prepare for an international future.
