Parent involvement

Parent Involvement
As a parent, it is important to be closely involved in your child’s educational learning process. In the bridge class, we begin with a meeting in which you are introduced to other parent(s)/caregiver(s) and your child’s learning coach. This is because the learning coach is the first point of contact.

In addition, there are three times during the school year when a triangular meeting is scheduled: this is a conversation between you, the learning coach and your child. There are also opportunities for teacher-parent interviews, here you as a parent/guardian can ask specific questions per subject area. Are there any questions in between? Then there is always room for an additional appointment!

You can also be actively involved along with us! Many parent(s)/caregiver(s) enjoy being able to collaborate with school.
To that end, we have two opportunities in which you can participate:

  • Parent Council (OR)
  • Resonans group (RG)

Parent Council (OR)

The OR promotes cooperation between parents, teachers and students and represents the interests of parents. They have monthly meetings with the management of our school, one of the parents of the parent council represents the parents in the participation council and they attend the RG meetings. They do this to keep in touch with each other. In addition, the council regularly organises information evenings for parents and colleagues on social topics such as social media, the dangers of lover boys or bullying behaviour.

The parent council has its own e-mail address ouderraad-henegouwenlaan@stedelijkcollege.nl. They can be reached for a personal meeting with other parent(s)/carer(s), and can provide you with meeting and/or annual reports of the parent council.

Resonance group (RG)

Parents who would like to help think about our education can join one of the resonance groups. Three times a year, they talk to each other about educational matters. This is a great way to work together to do more for education at our school.

There are at least three resonance groups:

  • one for parents of bilingual education students
  • one for parents of vwo and havo students
  • one for parents of mavo students.

Brief information about the resonance groups will be given during the first general introductory evenings and parents can then sign up on the spot.
