Working together with experts

Building a strong foundation together
Sometimes students need support that goes beyond what the school can provide on its own. That is why we work closely with a range of organisations and specialists who can help with questions about health, wellbeing, personal development and educational support. This ensures that students and their parents or carers can always turn to the right person for advice and guidance.

Expert advice and support
Whether you have questions about health, growing up, wellbeing or additional educational support, our partner organisations are here to help. Together, we make sure that questions are directed to the right people quickly, allowing students and parents or carers to access expert advice and support whenever it is needed.

Youth Health Care Service (GGD)
At our school, we work closely with the Youth Health Care Service (JGZ) of GGD Brabant-Zuidoost. Their youth doctors and youth nurses support students and parents or carers with questions about health, development, lifestyle and wellbeing.

Do you have questions about healthy development, school life, stress, sleep, nutrition or other topics that may influence your wellbeing and development? The Youth Health Care team is available to offer advice and support.

Parent and youth support centre for the southeast Brabant Region
Parents, carers and students sometimes have questions about inclusive education or the support a school can provide. The Parent and Youth Support Centre for the Southeast Brabant Region offers independent information, advice and guidance.

You can contact the support centre with questions about education, student support, additional provision or the opportunities available within inclusive education. Their team can help you find the right information and advice for your situation.

Youth Health Care Service (GGD)
Most young people grow up healthy and safe without any major concerns. As a parent or carer, you naturally want the very best for your child and hope they can develop in a safe, supportive and stimulating environment. However, the secondary school years are a period of rapid growth and change, which can sometimes lead to questions, worries or uncertainty. The Youth Health Care Service (JGZ) is here to help.

Schools work closely with the Youth Health Care Team (JGZ) of GGD Brabant-Zuidoost. This team includes a youth doctor, youth nurse, nurse practitioner, healthcare assistant, behavioural specialist and Healthy School adviser. The Youth Health Care Service supports children, young people and their families from pregnancy and birth through to the age of 18.

Health Assessment
Students in Years 7 and 10 complete a digital health questionnaire called The Check. You will receive information about this in advance. The questionnaire covers topics such as health, lifestyle and social relationships. Students in Year 7 are also weighed and measured. The purpose of this health assessment is to identify any potential health or wellbeing concerns at an early stage and, where necessary, provide appropriate support. If the questionnaire responses raise any concerns or questions, or if the height and weight screening indicates that further discussion may be helpful, the youth nurse may invite your child for a confidential conversation. Students can also request an appointment themselves. If the Youth Health Care Team recommends any form of support or guidance, parents or carers will be informed accordingly.
Participation in the health assessment is voluntary. As part of its statutory responsibilities, the Youth Health Care Service monitors the health and development of children and young people to help identify and prevent potential problems at an early stage.

Student Support Team
The Youth Health Care Service is also part of the school’s support network and regularly participates in student support meetings.

Support with absence due to illness
The school carefully monitors absences due to illness. If we have concerns about a student’s attendance, we will contact the parent or carer. In some cases, we may refer the student to the Youth Health Care Team.

If this happens, you and your child will be invited to attend a meeting with a Youth Health Care professional. Together, you will discuss the reasons for the absence and explore ways to reduce future absences. The student’s health and wellbeing are always at the centre of these conversations.
