At our school, we have a TOP week four times a year. TOP stands for Tests and Projects. During these weeks, you will take important tests or work on larger projects for various subjects.
You will always be informed in advance about what you need to learn or prepare. This allows you to prepare well and know exactly what is expected of you. Sometimes you will work independently on a project, and sometimes you will take a test in class.
In addition to the TOP weeks, you will of course also take other tests throughout the year, such as written tests, practical assignments or oral presentations. All these tests help us to see how you are developing, what your strengths are and where you might need some extra help.
At our school, we see tests not only as a way of grading, but as an important part of learning. We believe it is important for students to learn to reflect on their preparation, effort and growth. In this way, we encourage a positive and learning-oriented attitude towards testing.
In the lower years, we work with the PTO (Programme for Testing and Transition) and in the upper years with the PTA (Programme for Testing and Completion). These programmes provide clarity about which tests are administered and how the results count towards transition or final exams.
More information can be found in our school’s testing guidelines (Dutch version).
