On average, there are +/- 25 students in a class.
Talk to your grade 8 teacher and your parent(s)/carer(s) and ask them what they think would suit you best. With a havo/vwo education, we assume that you can at least reach havo and, with extra effort and potential, you may also be able to reach vwo level. If you have to work hard to get to havo level, but mavo is certainly within reach, choose a mavo/havo bridging class.
We teach at the higher level, with the appropriate teaching material and at the appropriate pace. We also test at the higher level and standardize at the lower level, so that the students who will fit best there can also achieve a good result in the following year.
No, unfortunately that is not possible.
Yes, this is possible. However, the first school year must be fully completed unless this jeopardises a student’s transition.
Transferring from bilingual to regular is possible in any grade, although the current school year must be fully completed.
Assessment guidelines, PTO and PTA
At our school, we view assessments not merely as an opportunity to award marks, but as a vital part of the learning process. We believe it is important for pupils to learn to reflect on their preparation, effort and progress. In this way, we encourage a positive and learning-focused attitude towards assessment.
In the lower and upper years, we use the PTO (Programme for Testing and Transition), and in the upper years we also use the PTA (Programme for Testing and Completion). These programmes provide clarity on which tests are administered and how the results count towards progression to the next year or the central final examination.

Students who need extra support, for example with dyslexia, receive the attention and support that suits them. Our support coordinators will discuss your needs with you and your parent(s)/carer(s). Each student is assessed individually so that we can provide appropriate support. We believe it is important that you feel comfortable and enjoy going to school. That is why we work together to identify what helps you to learn and develop successfully.
We pay special attention to students who are gifted or highly gifted. They are given the opportunity to develop further through additional challenges, and by deepening and broadening the curriculum. This can be achieved, for example, through existing activities such as Chinese, Russian, the debating team or the student council, but also through a personal learning goal or research project that aligns with the pupil’s interests.
For students who need extra challenges, we offer, among other things, the gifted and highly gifted peer group and the Challenge Programme. At the start of the school year, we use a CBO screening to identify pupils’ talents and educational needs. In this way, we ensure that every pupil can learn, grow and be challenged at their own level.
Do you find it difficult to plan, organise or study? If so, you can access homework support and tuition through Spectrum Brabant. In addition, older students regularly help younger students with their schoolwork.
Sometimes more is needed than just help with homework. That is why we also offer various training courses and forms of support. Do you need a quiet place? Then you can go to a place where you can relax for a while and then get back to work on your schoolwork.
World citizenship is an important theme for us in our education. To encourage this, we organise many intercultural activities for pupils. Pupils can choose from a variety of trips and exchanges. They can also participate in projects involving e-mailing, writing or skyping with pupils from other schools abroad. There is a strong emphasis on internationalisation within bilingual education. A separate (compulsory) programme has therefore been drawn up for students in bilingual education.
Are you an international student? If so, you can follow a special NT2 programme at the Henegouwenlaan location. This is for pupils with an international background who do not yet have a sufficient command of the Dutch language. You will receive extra Dutch lessons: specially tailored to your needs. In addition to the extra Dutch lessons, you will follow the normal timetable together with your class.
The aim of this guidance is to strengthen your Dutch so that you can successfully pass your final exam, at whatever level.
For pupils who are learning the Dutch language, it is essential that they are exposed to Dutch as much as possible. That is why we advise these pupils to enter the NTO (Dutch-speaking education mavo/havo/vwo) rather than the TTO (bilingual education mavo/havo/vwo).

Our policy is “Home or in the safe”. At Stedelijk College Eindhoven, this means that all mobile phones, smartwatches, tablets and other devices that allow you to control social media may no longer be used on school premises both indoors and outdoors.
The use of earphones and headphones is also not permitted in the school or on the school grounds unless the teacher gives permission. Pupils who wish to work in silence may use earplugs. Chromebooks may be used in class and in two designated areas during break times if pupils wish to study during break times.
We prefer that mobile phones and similar devices be left at home. If they are brought to school, we expect them to be stored in lockers immediately upon arrival. After school, mobile phones and other devices may be removed from the lockers. If a mobile phone or earphones are used, they will be confiscated and can be collected from reception between 4.15 p.m. and 4.35 p.m.
Cash and debit card payments are accepted at the catering facilities.
Any changes to the timetable will be displayed on screens in the school.
